Warmenfat

Postby mike932 » Tue Jul 15, 2008 4:13 am

I have been looking for a small light weight low wattage tube amp which will allow me to use my vintage Speakers for gigs and practice. I think this little amp may be the answer. I have read the specs , read the ratings and now I am looking for someone who has owned one.

It's a cute little thing! What tubes does it use?

That does look nice.

I've been thinking about low-watt tube setups for the Cube - I'm likely to go with a combo of some sort, but that's uber cool.

That looks really, really cool. Wouldn't mind one them myself as a practice rig.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is this "British Crunch" that it claims to be able to do?

That just means they claim it can sound like a Marshall.
In my experience, the only thing that sounds like a Marshall is a Marshall.

I believe "warm 'n' fat" is how many bluesmen like their women. :)

Yes indeed. I really don't think there is a way to get that "Marshall tone," unless you play through a Marshall.

It is possible to get the Marshall tone out of the thang' if the right circuit is there along with at least some of the tube types, but then there are several variations of the diffinitive Marshall tone. JMP, JCM, JTM, etc....el 34's and Celestion 25's are a start. The new Marshall stuff other than the handwired to me are more marketing gimmicks than true Marshall reproductions. Too many wham whams, fx loops, channel zuzu's, trirectum's and didilators. If the wombat can do a Plexi at 1/2 watt....I say....let me plug that 'thang in.

I will only say this about women....wait a sec...gotta' go...I think she's home now.

Cheers, TB.

$300 for 2 watts (Amazon) is a bit steep. There's lots of small tube amp options for that sort of money.

I have enough small combos, I like the preamp and pedal enhancement features of this little thing. There is a PDF file for the amp, after reading it , this little amp will do what your imagination creates. I am hoping to find someone who owns one or has tried it. $300.00 is a lot to pay and if I do buy it, I will have to push my pickup for a week, it's either the amp or gasoline for a week.

Breathing and a pulse (which usually goes together) is the first thing I look for. :)

Are you absolutely sure they're the first thing? :wha: After all, you wouldn't want to meet a widow whose first husband was Lordy Boy, would you?
