Postby 601blues » Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:41 pm

Alright guys, I left my house at 5am this morning 2-28-07 I was in Merdiain at 6;45 am went and found Peavey service center, and they were not open yet, went to waffel house for breakfast, and while I was eating I got a call from Jimmy, head tech for Peavey,He asked if I had found my way,and he was waitin on me, GREAT!!I gulped down my coffee and headed back, when I walked in they sent a guy out to my truck to get my amps, the classic 50,and my new Delta blues which had a slight noise and I wanted it checked while I was there, Jimmy said it would be a couple hrs and gave me the directions to the corp Headquarters and showroom down the road,he told me they were expecting me GREAT!! When I showed up there !! 3 ladies Donna the GM, Shirly, head of marketing, I forgot the 3rd lady she was head of Artist relations, and Mark from development!! and gave me the grand tour, 1st they showed me the OCC chopper that was made for PEAVEY, Man it has micophones for hand grips,a buit in guitar case with guitar and a working amp under the seat, a fret board on the gas tank, its too cool, and that show has not been aired on TV as of yet I think they said in March??? I got plenty of pic's if you guys wanna see!! I gotta get them to photobucket, Then they showed me sunburst amps outta the custom shop!!!I didn't know Peavey had a custom shop,YES I got pic's, and I got to see all kind of cool stuff, They have a line of great lookin guitars that they only sell in ENGLAND!!! and the new JF1 series is beautiful I played a JF1 sunburst and fell in love the guitar was amasing for 299.00 I just bought one thu a dealer and PEAVEY is drop shipping direct to ole 601!!!YEAH!!YES I GOT PLENTY OF PICS!!! wanna see???And just called Donna the GM and gave he the order# she said Peavey was shipping the damage control Liquid Blues effects box with it at no charge!!I had kept askin them about it and they let me try 1 when I played the JF1, man I saw akind of neat stuff, AFTER I went back to the service center, The New Delta Blues had a Bad tube and they replaced all the tubes wit JJ's, and my Classic 50, they went over it replaced 2 missing chickin head KNOBS in one case they had ta change the whole volume pot cuz the stem was broke thats why that one didn't have a knob, replaced all tube's 7!!! and it sounds great!!! all for 100 bucks!!!!!!I LOVE PEAVEY!!

Hey 601, maybe they'll hire ya' to run around and demo their stuff; getcha a coupla "Peavey Girls" with go-go skirts to sing backup. Isn't it great when a company shows ya' how bad they want yer business though....?Last nite I was thinkin' about tradin' my Classic 30 and sumpin' else for this vintage Valco Gretsch, and I looked at the 30 and finally came to my senses. I'm thinkin', "Whatta you freakin' nuts? That 30's a helluva amp!"

Yeah 601. Just e-mail me with it. I'm a conservative northern guy though; it's hard to get me away from that tweed & tolex stuff. I'd love to get a tour through their skunkworks down there though. It's funny, 'cuz when Peavey first came out, everybody looked on it as cheap junk at the time; I dunno, maybe it was. It seems like they got a big jumpstart sellin' PA systems, maybe back in the 70s. I'm not sure, but they mighta been one of the first companies to come up with a full line of club mixers and PAs for lounge acts, etc, with the handy speaker stands & all. Back in the 60s, Shure was dominating that end but they were pricey and they didn't have the slick packages graduating in wattage that Peavey began to market. I never owned a Peavey before this 30, and the only reason I bought it was a helluva recommendation from my music store owner who had played through it enough to learn what it did well. I liked it for harp 'cuz of the balls it had for its relatively small size, and the way it cut through the stage mix. All I had to do was switch one tube down a size. I'm glad to see that Peavey is so responsive; it's a good bet that if they're communicating that well with their customers, they'll tackle any product problems they come across and make it right in their new stuff.
