Fender Deluxe amp settings

Postby texas blues » Wed Dec 13, 2006 11:09 pm

G'day ya'll. I recently acquired a Fender Deluxe amp clone from Clark Amplification. When it arrived I told my gal I was going to plug it in upstairs in the Plush Chamber. See ya' in a few weeks! Talk about looks that could kill. Anywhoooo, I plugged my LP with P90's straight in. The amp has both bright and normal channels same as the Fender. I can plug into the normal channel and also adjust the both the tone and the bright channel volume to tweek the overall sound. I have owned other Fenders, Marshall JCM 800, Music Man 210, Crate and Peavey amps and this thing smokes them all for tone. Problem is there are so many variations and they all sound so good. Between the guitar volume and tone controls and the amps, I am almost overwhelmed with sonic possibilities. What guitar and amp settings for you Deluxe users out there?

I usually have the tone around 6 and just turn my volume up to my desired level of crunch...usually 6-9 on each volume control with the channels jumped for rock stuff...for blues, I plug in to the normal channel all the knobs at roughly 6. Mine's in a head rather than a combo and I run it into a 2x10 cab, so the settings might be a little different that what I'd use for a combo.

Thanks for the reply. I did not know that you could jump the channels like say on a bassman. Are you jumping the #1 bright to the #2 normal? Please 'splain me. I also did not know that a Deluxe came as a head. 'Splain me that too. Is it a custom head?

I jumping Normal 1 to Bright 2 and plugging in to Normal 2. Weber sells a kit of the deluxe in a head. I built a combo last year, but traded it to my uncle for an old Oberheim synth. I liked the tone of the amp, though, so I decided to build it in head form.

Hmmm. Lemme' get this straight. Vol 1. on 6, Vol. 2 on 6, and Tone on 6. Could that be " the devil" setting? Coincedence? I think not! Maybe it should be called the Robert Johnson setting.

Could be Legmah lurking around the BRB forum. Straight into channel 1 with all on 6 sounds good on the neck pup with the tone rolled off by half on the guitar. Sho 'nuff works for me. I'll play around with the jumper thang. Thanks heaps!
