Stormy Monday

I am listening to an Eva Cassidy version as I type. Man that girl could sing!

The backing for this version is fairly simple and a bit jazzy but anyone got a tab of any version as a starting point for me?

I love this girl! And a magic song.

I just got myself a copy. Wow! Phenomenal.

Bit better than the Gary Moore version... ;)

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Sep-27-05 AT 08:11 AM (EST)]I tabbed out the All bros version from live at the fillmore by ear.
It felt like it took forever but it was worth it. I never rely on tab sites cus ususally theyre written incorrectly by someone whos been playing for 6 months and thinks he can jam. If you need to take a peek at them just use it a general reference to get into the ballpark.

my best advice is to find the version you like and just tune to the CD and play what you hear. This song is one of the most recorded blues tunes. So youll find each one is played differently. like the guy said above maybe you should start from the source with T Bone and do it your way..

I don't quite know waht to think about Eva Cassidy. You're right, she sure can sing, but you also stated that the backing music was lacking. I found that on several of her cds. She can wail it out when she wants to, but often comes across as a backup singer rather than someone out front. Too much understament on most of her work for me.

Jeff Beck had quite a nice version at one point, wouldn't be hard to pick up by ear as it's very crisp and clean.

The "climb" in Stormy Monday is a sort of jazzy version of a I7 VI7 II7 V7 progression.
In G that progression is G7 - E7 A7 D7 G7
Stormy Monday is a variation of that proogression
G7 Am7 - Bm7 Bbm7 Am7 Eb7 D7 G7

Here's a jazzy variation that I've come across, hope you all like it =)
Instead of Bbm7 Am7 Eb7 D7 G7

try

Bm7........Bb9........Ebmaj7......Ab7#11.......G7

-2----------5----------3-----------5-----------4
-4----------6----------5-----------4-----------3
