Best Pups for Blues

Postby lordogier » Sun Apr 16, 2006 5:34 am

Greetings all,

Hi, I am new. As such, I have looked for the answer but have not found it.

I am in the process of building a semi-hollow body from scratch and would like to know what pickups I should put in it. I have thought about building my own from scratch as well, but I have enough on my plate at this point with the woodwork.

Thanks in advance,

IMO p90´s - without a doubt.
I own a 57AVRI Strat, a Gibson LP Studio with BareKnuckle "The Mule" pickups and a Gibson ES135 with p90 soapbars.
The ES135 is my favourite blues machine for length.

I am thinking about going with the Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy pup for the Neck and the Rio Grande Blues Bar for the bridge.

Anyone have any dealings with the Rio Grande Pups???

The old Valco (supro, airline, national) single-coils are great.

Seymore Duncan Antiquity ..... P90's. Got a set in my Gibson TV yellow DC. How blue can you get?

I use 490R (neck pickup) in my custom made LP copy for blues with my solid-state Vox Pathfinder and it sounds great!
