April 19, 2006 -- Peace Evolutions, LLC, a publishing company based near Bethesda, Maryland, is proud to present its latest CD, “Songs of Peace and Forgiveness.” The CD features sixteen original and traditional songs by talented acoustic blues musicians who have contributed these songs for the benefit of the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation (AEBHF), which operates the famous “Barbershop” in Washington, DC (see http://www.acousticblues.com).

Artists include Phil Wiggins, Mark Puryear, Gaye Adegbalola, Scott Ainslie, Roddy Barnes, Mike Baytop, BluesWorks, Eleanor Ellis, Andra Faye and the Mighty Good Men, Grant Dermody, Frank Fotusky, Alison Radcliffe, Allen Holmes, Kelley Hunt, Ray Kaminsky, Mark Kinniburgh, MSG – The Acoustic Blues Trio, Jesse Palidofsky and Alex Radus.

While blues music is often associated with jilted lovers, juke joints, and bad times, it is also about courage, survival, love, and even forgiveness. The musicians featured in “Songs of Peace and Forgiveness” testify to the spiritual side of their artistry and demonstrate their essential commitment to bringing peace through music.

Each artist has contributed a song without compensation in order to help preserve the Barbershop where the late Archie Edwards cut hair for decades, and where on Saturday afternoons they drew the blinds, pulled out the libations, and played the blues.

Today, blues musicians and their friends still come by the Barbershop to jam on Saturday afternoons. There is a tremendous feeling of brotherhood and community. The audience is diverse and everyone is welcome to play or just come and listen. During his life, Archie was intent on passing the music on to future generations, and the Foundation continues his legacy.

Recently, the Foundation’s Board of Directors faced the possibility that the historic building the Barbershop calls home might be sold. The net proceeds of this CD will go to the Foundation’s Building Fund, with a minimum contribution guaranteed by Peace Evolutions, LLC. The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax exempt Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization and contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.
