I was also wondering what is a good after market acoustic pickup?? I think I want the style that fits into the sound hole BUT not the kind that fills the entire sound hole.

I'm going down to play the Alvarez 12-String Jumbo Tommorrow. HOPEFULLY I LIKE HER and MAYBE take her home with me....

First off, don't get http://www.guitarspot.com/img73/op_1_dm ... _f_m_1.jpg. They're designed to take advantage of new guitarists who don't know any better.

The Fishman Rare Earth pickup sounds good; although, on my own acoustic guitar, I use a Fishman Matrix - that's a piezo, with a preamp, installed under the brigde.

Nothing beats an old DeArmond, as far as I'm concerned...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-06 AT 11:19 PM (EST)]>On that Alvarez 12-String Jumbo It says Maple Sides and

The back and sides are probably laminate, but they're not as important as the top (sides especially) as the top.

FYI: Some of Alvarez's $2000+ guitars don't say "solid" on the sides & back wood description.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Apr-20-06 AT 07:13 AM (EST)]Has anyone ever heard of a APMic pickup???

It's an acoustic pickups that a friend of mine used a while back in his 12-String. I would find out where he got it from BUT he lives in Thailand now. So I was just wondering if this was a well known pup?
