The shim was briliant. I cut up a credit card and raised my action to about 4/32. It has improved the sound of my sliding quite a bit. Still crappy technique but not as much buzz. I might raise it a little more later. Thanks ricochet

First time I did that, I cut up a thin guitar pick and kind of mosaic'ed it into the slot.

True, Ric. I just love credit card picks for playing mountain dulcimer. I cut them long and slender for that, so I get a good "flick". I also use them on slide guitar, and cut them both long and slim, and short and teardrop shaped, so I have different ones for different styles. It is a good way to use all those darn cards they send in the mail.
