I don't know about this one. It doesn't seem right. The serial number is also very suspect. It looks cool but I don't know if it's the real thing.

IMO, I dont think it was made in the 1930s like they say it was. The condition is too good. I would think it would be a little more beat up. Look into it some more.

1896484 is the patent number for the cone design. You need to know the serial number (if it has one) to determine the age of the guitar. The metalwork looks in astonishingly good condition for the supposed age of the instrument. The soundhole screens seem rather large too. Compare the metalwork with this one or the one at http://www.resocentre.com/index.php?id=54,73,0,0,1,0 and you'l see what I mean.Image

I know, that's a real Dobro, but here's my mid-1930s Regal. It looks about the same as that one, and the neck looks quite similar (a fairly sharp V): Image

Regal made instruments for Dobro and were licensed to put the Dobro decal on the headstock too.

My slotted headstock is the same, too. There's no decal. All I know is I never heard a sweeter-sounding one. The binding is starting to lift off in a couple spots, but I'm going to get that fixed. The neck is on solid, but there are a couple cracks in the side (had them patched when I got it, they seem stable).
