Re-Discovering

Postby grady » Sun Jun 04, 2006 5:38 am

I'm going to jam with a Blues band Tomorrow night.

I haven't touched a Electric Guitar in a long time.

I got my G&L Legacy Strat out last night and plugged it into my Fender Pro Jr.

I had forgotten how great that rig sounds.

My playing on the other hand, could use some work..LOL !!

If you don't use it, you lose it.
and, when you find it, it's really "rusty".

Funny - I just picked up my Amp - a Vibrolux Reverb - from a rehearsal studio where it's been sitting for about 3 years.

I played a set of electric blues last week, without practising first.
It was the first time I'd touched my strats in 2 years.
I should of rehearsed a bit.
I'm really an electric player, but for the past 2 years I've been doing nothing but acoustic stuff.
Whoa, what a difference.
My fingers felt like spagetti!
Slowly got some rust off, but I was pretty shaky.
It was fun to have all that sustain though.
I much prefer playing electric, but bands can be a pain.
I realised just how much I miss it.
If I make the transplant, list I'm gonna start a big blues band, with a horn section, and 3 spunky back up singers, Yeah.

Backing singers.

Er, female? Early 20s? Short skirts? REALLY short skirts? OK, I'll buy a ticket when you tour.

I went up and helped Dennis (Dennis McClung Blues Band) celebrate at their CD release party on Sunday. We had a blast..... Thats a great bunch of guys and alot of fun to hang out with. I post up some pics of the event. By the way.... I was recording your old dobro last night. Sounds killer. Thanks again.

I like Dennis.
He's a nut.

I do have a great sounding rig but, I think the problem is, I'm really "rusty" because I haven't played Electric Guitar in a long time.
I found myself playing much better lead runs when I was jamming with others on my Martin.
You're definitely right about nothing sounding better than a tortured Strat.
It is the ultimate tone.

I want to get together with you one day this Summer up at your place and just hang out.
You know, shoot the bull and just enjoy the day.

I spend so much time gigging and stuff.
I have friends that I want to spend some time with.
I just need to "make" the time.
You know what I mean ??

Thats somethin i've been learnin to do recently (for a different reason though). Before I used to be in contact with most of my friends on a daily basis. But since everyones gone their ways with work/college n all, you really do have to make it a point to get together and spend time with your friends. Can't wait for somethin to come up before you see someone again. Everyone knows tomorrow is never a guarantee.
