slide on mandolin

So how come I've never heard slide played on mandolin? I just tuned mine to ADAD and gave it a try. The main problem is I can't really fingerpick mandolin (my nails only catch one string of each pair) so I'm using flatpicks or thumbpicks to get the job done. Also tuning mandolins isn't fun or fast so I wouldn't want to have to switch back and forth much.

It sounds kind of good but a lot of fretting noise when I pick up the slide.

Anyone ever heard someone play slide on a mando before? I'm curious what it sounds like when you know what you're doing.

There's currently a link to a short sample played by our own badfinger, down in the "Way Off Topic" section.

How about slide on a ukulele? I've tried that a few times and it's a wee bit o' fun. Anyone else given it a go?

What I know about 'sliding' on a mando or uke is to use a really lightweight slide. One of those thin Dunlop glass slides work good, like for 'slidiing' on electric's with light strings.

I did a little slide ukulele last summer, here's the recording. Two tracks, both played on a baritone uke. It's one of the few times I actually try some vocals, strictly amateur.

DOH! How could I have forgotton the Duck? Shame on me. I'll have to check out his recordings again - I've got a bunch of them saved on my other computer.
