Texas, the only information I have is that face book has lead to the decrease in activity of discussions forums. Personally, I think it's a shame, but so goes the world with the technological advancements.

I suspect a few of us are lurking in the background, waiting to see if anything interesting comes up.

Ah well I dunno' if FB is a killer or not as I don't use it.

And Lummo, lurking is overrated. :D

I still visit once or twice a month, but most certainly Facebook has lured a lot of traffic off discussion forums.

IMO Facebook doesn't come close to a discussion forum in regards to serious & interesting 'chat' about music, gear or recommendations from like-minded folks ~ I am on Facebook purely for business promo purposes, but I learned early on the truth of a Facebook saying - "how do you begin an argument on Facebook? Give an opinion on a subject, then sit back and watch..."

Slide On!

Ian.

Guilty as charged. I will drop by but do not see a lot going on so take a pass.

I am not a Facebook guy but then again I do not even carry a cell phone and only own watches that you have to wind. I do think Forums can sometimes run their course and need to take a hiatus until some new blood comes a calling. There is just so much you can talk about until you run out of things to say.

On the other hand it is refreshing to not have to read posts asking "what guitar should I buy" 20 times a week. I guess the concept of going out and just playing the things goes over a lot of heads.

Keep it rollin' y'all!

This forum can come back!

As per guitars, I'm debating National Delphi mic'd vs. Flying V & Tech 21 Blonde into

the P.A. thursday.

Yep. It used to be a good one.

I am not a face book guy either.

I see my friends in person.

Delphi's still my bread and butter guitar so that's how I'd go.

Just sending out my emails to the local farmers markets - this will be my second season playing them here in New England. Also been sitting in with a few different local acts - more and more on harmonica, to my surprise.

Been messing with mandolin lately - got a National RM-1v, I'm playing it tuned low, F, C, G, D, Yank Rachell style - it sounds better as a solo accompaniment to my voice. Used it for a few songs at last years "Vision and Grit" festival in Connecticut.

Been learning new music - adding some swing and New Orleans Jazz to my repertoire.

Oh how about it, other lurking old regulars? What's happening these days? What kind of strings are you using?

Even though I don't have the ability to play slide like so many of you do, I really miss this forum and I'm glad to see some activity on it.
I'm an ol' man and I've been trying to play guitar since I was 14 or so.I played with a band some in my early days but now I jam with some friends occasionally.I have mostly blues and old rock-n-roll in my head but my friends play mostly country so I go along.
I have a Gibson 339 and I use D'addario pure nickel stringsI like Dr Pure Blues but I have gotten so many bad sets that I changed to D'Addario nickel 10's.
I hope to see more activity here as I'm not a facebook person either and I'm tired of seeing "new guitar day" and "show pictures of your rig" on other forums.

Very much obliged senor.

I am heavily into Jr. and that whole northern Mississippi hill country style of blues.

I just love one chord riffing and driving the song along like its a '57 Ford Galaxy

cruisin' down the road.

Ever 'thang you need, and nuthin' you don't.

I have learned and got good advice on this here.

What strings do I use?

Guilty as charged...

Ironic, I was listening to "The Big Road Blues Vol 1" CD tonight...

All tunes made by Members of this forum..

And Ian, I'm still playing the Diamond Bottleneck Slide I picked up from you about 10 years ago...
