This a little poll to find what are prefered blues tones vs non prefered
The root and 5th are givens, they always work

The only way for this work is with accuracy, choose all the tones you might use.
For example, I don't think the b2 and the b6 are used much in basic modern blues
blues, so my vote would not include them, but everything else is fair blues
game. In my opinion of course. Are you a strick pent player or do you use everything.
And of course I' talking about the common tones you would use at a gig. Common blues.

- this does not include any tone created from a bend, just the fretted tones.

Keepin the blues alive

Interesting concept. It happened, I had Stormy Monday" stuck in my head when I took the poll, so, it doesn't leave out much. Minor third/Major third is one of the trademarks of the blues, as is flat 7th. 2nd (9th) and 6th(13th) are more your "Jazz blues" tones Flat 5, flat 2nd/flat 9, Maj 7th often only work over certain chords. They're all good...at the right time!

My bet would be the b3rd/3rd would be the favorite tones as well. Seriously though the root is a great tone but like I said it's a given right, the root is BBs lesson.

It's working, the poll =P

The 2nd and b3rd show a big difference between the major pent and the minor pent
The very same thing with the 6th and the b7.
In my opinion the major and minor pents are at the heart of what we seek on the guitar.
They're like springboards into the world of bends and "hair" as in mean blues.

I've been playing a lot of fretless lately and note choices are way more than the 12 frets offered.
The tones in the cracks. But those tones work so well because of the frets, the springboards.
The two things together happening all at the same time in a solo. That's the nature of the blues.
Fretless reveals all this off fret stuff . (Frets are out of tune with the juicy nodes on fretless.)
