Yeah, there isn't really a solid definition (though I'm sure some of the banjo purists would argue that).

Same here AJ. I know this is an oldish post - but I couldn't help responding. I'd half credit the old Budweiser slide ad (that was the first bit of slide I learned) but seeing John Campbell live in Dublin is what really turned me on to slide guitar. I saw him twice. Once in a small pub gig, and another time supporting Buddy Guy. For my money, his set was worth 10 times Buddy Guy's.
