Baritone Strings on a Resonator

Postby Disciple » Sun Jul 24, 2011 3:17 am

Anyone have any experience using Baritone Acoustic strings on a Tricone or other resonator.

I grabbed a set of these today with a bottom / bass string that is .64, really friggin heavy compared to most. Haven't strung it up yet.

I'm wondering will this be dull....or louder or.....no difference....any ideas???????

I'd like to hear a bit more punch on that string I've been using 16-59 nickel wound and like the sound just fine but I do find the low E string kind of dull at least in Open G where I play mostly.

I use 0.62 PhBronze on my Republic Resolian, I feel it gives a much better bass response!
Not sure how to describe it properly, but the bass is somewhat louder and fuller.
O.64 would work well I'd say!! Go for it!

Oh, I must mention that I keep my guitars tuned down to C instead of a D..
