non-blues music that gives you the feel of blues

Nothin' to do with blues? The name says it all. You might try e-mail or Personal Message, but if those don't work for you, put it here, not in the blues forums above. Thanks!

The obvious would be found in genres such as jazz, rock, country & western, zydeco.
but how about far flung genres from around the world?

Hers is one of my favorites

The singer is world-acclaimed Greek vocalist/composer Alexiou Haris,
the title translates to "Foreign Bird".

the feel of blues

Postby michaelm » Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:05 pm

Good topic. Where is everybody?

Les, she's a Greek Goddess! A chick singer with a tambourine! I thought that I was back in Califa. As long as she doesn't dye her hair blonde, I won't get fooled again.

Most of the Gypsy Flamenco has the old blues feeling for me.

Another traditional musician with the blues with a feeling is Al Farka Toure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA__bM7abhg

Enjoy! 8)
