This is a Public Service Announcement (Know Your Rights)! I'm posting this cuz we've been fortunate to have alotta new members join in the last few months, many of whom are quite active here, and have been great contributors to the threads: This site costs money to maintain, especially as the needs for server capacity continue to grow; donations can be made by clicking on the "Make a Donation" icon at the upper right of the pages. Also,if you are purchasing items that are offered for sale by our host,Coast to Coast Music, please consider buying from them, even if it costs a little more (which is rare). When doing so, use the link at the top of the page, rather than typing in their URL,because that helps them track the purchases directly to BRB, in guaging whether or not they are recouping their costs through our members.

If you phone or E-mail Coast to Coast and identify yourself as a BRB member to John, he'll often make you a little better deal than advertised on the web page. Also, some items like Johnson guitars have a minimum advertised price. You can't post a price for public reading that's lower, but you can sell for less if you want to. That's why you see things like "Our price is too low to advertise." But he'll make you as good a deal as anyone will, and he's a good guy to deal with.

If you buy something or donate to BRB's upkeep, John (PappyJ) will put those blue notes by your name for a year.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-16-05 AT 10:00 PM (EST)]I just bought Doug Pul's three CD instructional set of blues guitar for about $32.00. I'm such a hack of a guitar player I am hoping Doug can help. The 3rd CD (#7 in the series, I know I'm confused too) is about Open G and Open D slide playing.

Also, I didn't know this and found it hard to find but, Pappy carries some great CDs by artists like Junior Wells, etc. To find them enter "CD" in the "Search this site" box and you'll see several pages come up. You are bound to find at least one CD you have been wanting.

Friends and newbies here need to know how important it is to patronize Coast to Coast to keep Big Road Blues up and running. Think of it as paying your tab at your favorite blues bar BUT you get some cool stuff too. Supporting the sponsor of BRB is like supporting your local blues bar. If enough people DON'T support it, it will go away.

BTW ~ I think it would be cool to get a second blue note instead of just keeping the same one. Kind of like earning Sgt. stripes in the Army :-)

Doc,you elitist snob, you! You wanna start some kinda class system here....? Thanks for the input on the CDs--I had no clue. I haven't reached the bottom of my glass of Scotch yet, so I couldn't read my crystal ball.

Class system, caste system, call it what you want but I think it would be very cool. BTW Bubba, if it was a caste system you would be an untouchable :-) If you would crawl out of your drunken stupor long enough you might see the merit of this great idea. As my Grampy used to say, "If the shoe fits....buy it"

The IMPORTANT thing here is to support Coast to Coast Music and Pappy to keep The Road running.

BTW Friends ~ Bubba and I are really good friends and talk on the phone for hours sometimes.

Just sign me ~ Wanting two notes and wanting to strip Bubba of his note and break his lance over my knee,
Doc

I'll join in and echo the sentiments. This is a GREAT place and we wouldn't be here without the support from everyone.

BTW...I bought a slide from Coast to Coast, and sent a modest donation, even though I don't have a blue note.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-17-05 AT 07:04 AM (EST)]And Doc: I actually think that your "stripes" idea isn't a bad one, except I always have one thought in the back of my head when it comes to giving money: some people just can't afford to,and I don't want to make them feel bad,or to have any attention drawn to themselves. On the other hand, most of us seem to find the money necessary to keep our music habits fixed. And Doc,I know you realize I don't put smiley faces with my jabs cuz they won't get a rise outa you if I do, but it sure is nice to have a veteran pro to talk to firsthand, since I am not one. I may be a veteran musician, but I'm no pro. For anyone who uses this forum,it's nice to have veteran pros around to tap for help, and just to seek comfort with occasionally. Please support this forum in any way that y'all can. (Panhead: I don't know if Pappy has kept up on editing the Blue Note situation. You may wanna contact him and ask him,on behalf of others like you.)

I don't know about extra blues notes, but I sure would like to have my "Charter Member" status back that we lost in the March crash. I've been hangin' around this place since January of 2002 (and supporting C2C) and the seniority should be worth something.

What about it Pappy?

Yes, Bubba I agree. We were both just joking with each other. I don't really care if I get another note and I certainly don't want to make anyone feel badly if they can't contribute money.

Though my thought about buying from Coast To Coast was like paying a blues bar tab but you get good stuff was good IMO.

BTW ~ The selection of CDs Pappy has are all harmonica players. Brian "Dr. Mojo" Robertson's (who started this forum) CD "Big Ass Buick" is also available from Coast To Coast.

You newbie you!

Howdy folks! Just joined this forum.

What kind of amplifier should I buy to make me sound like Little Walter?

Bosco

PS- I don't feel too bad about hijacking the topic because Bubba (the Hijack King) started this thread!

Bosco: you don't have to worry about getting blue notes, anyway; you prob'ly have to order 4-5 new harps a month from C to C,to make up for all the ones you blow up slobberin' into 'em.You'll keep yer blue notes that way, lol.

You can blow up amps by slobbering into them, too.

I do that by plugging stuff into the wrong holes, without my reading glasses on.That part of gettin' older sucks. Oh yeah, that reminds me to get summa that "glow in the dark" paint for labelling my harps.

I just want to keep this thread alive so you all know how important it is to support Coast To Coast Music and use the link that is on the top of every page you view here to buy great items.

John (Pappy) is keeping this wonderful forum alive and it costs money. Please do what you can to help support The Road and Coast To Coast Music. A donation or purchase is greatly appreciated and will help keep this board alive.

Thank you,
Doc
