What about the blues club(s) in your area? Any worth visiting? Blues festivals or events?

Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Fest Aug 18-20. Anyone going?

Postby bluemoose » Fri Aug 11, 2006 11:02 pm

Hi All:

Got my tickets and the time off so next weekend I'll be at the Salmon Arm
Blues Fest in central British Columbia, Canada. Anybody going?

Going to be a harp player's heaven.

Kim Wilson and the Fabulous Thunderbirds
Cephas and Wiggins
Downchild Blues Band
Studebaker John

Lots of other decent blues acts along with the rootsy folks.

Fingers crossed for good weather and no forest fires!

WOW!

2 full days and 3 evenings of great, great music. I didn't think having
this many top level harp players in one festival was legal!

Is this an annual festival? Where in BC is it?

Maybe I'll have to check it out and drive up to see it one year!

Hi Lefty:

This was the 14th annual festival in Salmon Arm, B.C. about 4 1/2 hour
drive from Vancouver B.C. up past Hope onto the Coquihalla Toll highway
to Kamloops and east to Salmon Arm. It's about half way to Calgary
from Vancouver on the Trans Canada Highway.

Festival link is:

Check out the 'R&B Performers' link for a list of the acts with small
bio's.

Hi-lites were many - Kim Wilson, Ritchie Havens, Ten Years After,
Studebaker John, Jimmy Bowskill (15 yrs old!!! Blew the doors off!),
Cephas and Wiggins, Downchild Blues Band, The Twisters playing with
Kenny Blues Boss Wayne.

"Like a Mississippi bull frog sitting on a hollow stump" I didn't know
which way to jump. And I just mostly hit the blues stuff. The roots side was
just as impressive.
