John Primer DVD....

Your chance to write big-time blues reviews. Only two rules: First, if you're connected to the band or artist, go to Shameless Promotion; Second, don't write a book -- keep it relatively short and simple, no 1,000+ word epics.

Oh .. and make it fun.

John Primer DVD....

John Primer , who has paid his dues with both Muddy Waters (see the Maintenance Shop Blues series from Yazoo ) and double digit years touring with Magic Slim , has recently released a live dvd recorded at B.L.U.E.S in Chicago . If you've never visited the club at 2519 N. Halsted , this video is about as close to the real thing as you can get . Obviously shot with only one stationary and one hand held camera , you feel as though you're in the cramped smoky club on a Friday night . Especially when the hand held follows him through the crowd (getting jostled about the whole time) and out the front door into the street during his big solo .Starting with a couple of acoustic numbers , Primer and band then get down to some good old electric Chicago blues as only they can . The sound is very good and except for one short piece where the audio and video seem out of sync , making it seem more like your Uncle Bernie filmed it while half in the bag , it is a very good representation of Primers show . It would be a good thing if we could document more local club shows this way in the future .
