Just dropped by to say hello.

Hi all, wrong side of 40, not as much hair as I used to have, and overweight. what more can i say? I have loved the guitar from the first time i saw the Beatles on TV, and although i have owned a few over the years (i was always more of a collector than a player) I left it late (late 30's) before i really tried to play, and now wish i had found that enthusiasm earlier. I own a few old guitars including an old 1910 Regal, a 1920 washburn, a Wurlitzer, a Stella, a May Bell, and have just bought a prototype Liberty parlor size accoustic with copper top, I can't wait for it to arrive, I also have an arch top (stewart wondertone) a cheap puchase off of e-bay. I am trying to play finger style blues, but I seem to have bannana's where my fingers should be (and I think they have been drinking) well that's about it.
Thanks for taking the time, Kevin.

As to playing guitar etc we have all types lurking around here all struggling with our own way with the beast...consesus is that your own way is the best...just keep at it.Myself ..I'm struggling with the vox side.

adios,
Lovat.

"Drunk Banana Kevin" isn't too bad for a blues name.

Hey Kev, welcome to BRB! I like that analogy. Compares well to one I heard when American rocker Ted Nugent was interviewed;

Interviewer: "I tried playing guitar once but I was all thumbs."

Ted Nugent: "Yeah, I was like that when I started out, but in my case it was all middle fingers!"

went down to the crossroads...

A nice one I heard was somebody describing what it was like trying to play with fingerpicks for the first time:

"Like a dog on ice!"

Sean Cu,

"...struggling with the vox side"

Reference was made to this somewhere else. You gotta tell me about it, cos it's something I reckon I can't do worth a damn!

(The guy who runs a local club said recently that I have "a great blues voice", but I reckon he just wants me to come back 'cos it's a real 'folkie' place and ANYTHING different is an improvement... altho, you never know... well a bit of self-ego-stroking is ok, innit?).

Hey Kev,

My Grandfather came from Blackburn, England (if you happen to know where that is?), so tell the country I said, " ello, ello, mate."

Peace,
Bones

>My Grandfather came from Blackburn, England

I shall be driving right past Blackburn on Friday on the way to the Great British Blues Festival at nearby Colne. I'll give it a wave for you.
