I also like EC.
And I have "From The Cradle". Great album.
Nothing wrong with his blues playing. I also really dig his slide work.
And don't even get me started on SRV!

Seems a lot of people like to put down big named artist's.
Tall poppie syndrome?

Magoo, I had front row seats to a Robert Cray concert many years ago, without realising the show was the same night I had to second for my brother in a title fight.
Missed the gig, but my brother won.

Seems I was in a safer place anyway, cause some ugly lesbians were protesting against men that night at the concert.

Yeah, Dan...I know the feeling. I hope that changes to something more positive for you. I'm working on mine.

Congrats to your brother, LB!

I've seen RC several times...in venues all the way from 1500 seats (Shreveport Strand Theater), to a festival sized arena (the old Coca-Cola Starplex in Dallas). He's been top notch every time. He's got soul that won't quit. Reminds me a lot of Otis Redding, who in my book had more soul than anyone else on the planet...EVER.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of his.

I have some confessions, too, and this seems to be the place. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn. I have never thought Eric Clapton was God but I have a respect for him, I have the old albums from Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Bluesbreakers, all that and I like the music. I own Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD. I own unplugged(I am whispering this, but damn if Tears In Heaven doesn't make me cry every time.) But I just love, love, love Robert Cray and he's real hot. See, I told you men go through changes, too. Feel better and try some chocolate, a good movie, be kind to yourself. I like you all. Damn crazy musicians.

I got to see Robert Cray a few years ago. It was beautiful. But you know one of the best guitarists all around that I've seen was Debbie Davies. Well, I mean, I saw BB King twice, I probably shouldn't say that cause I've seen some good ones but she is really good! There are a lot of good guitarists each with something different.

I wouldn't say she's the best, but she's damn good alright!

Anyone who's good enough to be in Albert Collins' band has to be worth their salt!

Robert Cray was here a few weeks ago with Buddy Guy, I missed it, but the reviews were great. I guess I'll have to catch him next time he's in the neighborhood, cause the paper had nothing but good things to say about him. Buddy, on the other hand, is still wasting his time with that "I can play more than just buddy guy" schtick and they said it was pretty tired.
And I like Stevie Ray Vaughan! I just don't think it matters how many records he's sold. And Layla is a great album.
I've got no use for "From the Cradle" though, and it's got nothing to do with sales figures.. ;)

Yes, Pretty cool that Debbie played with Albert Collins and she is just on it all the time. And a positive upbeat attitude and humble. An extremely prolific songwriter - all blues and really, she is just an amazing player. I almost want to say if she were a man... she might have received a lot more appreciation and - well, that's the way it's been. I've been watching this DVD of Bonnie Raitt in Montreaux and jeez, all I could say was I have seen some of the best guitar players live and on DVD and she was and is just amazing. Bonnie Raitt, Rory Block, Sheryl Crow are all multi-instrumentalists and supreme vocalists and players. It is interesting. It sure has been an inspiration for me in my little world.
