Big Road update?

Postby david » Tue Dec 10, 2002 3:13 pm

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Dec-10-02 AT 10:20 AM (CDT)]Anybody heard any more about the fate of this forum? Is it truly to be the Big Road to Oblivion? Or will some new twist of fate come out of our collective blues mojo to salvage it?

In the mean time, anybody have a contingency plan for how we all find our way to some other clearing to huddle together once more 'round the warmth of our common blues fetish--sheltered from the psuedo-blues commercialism of the outside?

The end of the year ain't near as far away as it used to be.

David... no news as to what's going on with the BRB forum. Last we heard from Doc, there was a possibility of an interested buyer, although I don't think anyone has heard anything else since. In the meantime, a number of folks here have been jumping over to the Temple of Blues...

Give it a try. As with here, it's a fine group and flames are left by the wayside for good blues talk.

Hope to see you there.

I will get over to that site and check it out. It just seems funny, somehow; Kinda like steppin' out of the traces.

I wouldn't worry about feeling like you're steppin' out or going around behind anyone's back... we're all here for the long haul, however long it might be, but we're just covering our collective backside in case we drop in here one day to find that the Big Road collapsed and swirled down a storm drain.

Yep. Actually, I was on the TOB before I found the Big Road. I was looking for slide guitar playing info. The Big Road used to be slideguitar.com/ and that address had an automatic forwarding link to the main page of BRB.

Yeah, I remember when Brian Robertson sort of shut down Slideguitar.com and it morphed into this. He managed to turn disappointment into something much better.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I keep expecting him to do the same thing this time.

I'm still wondering what he meant by saying something about "feeling that the end of my time on earth is approaching"... Anybody have any idea how the Doc's doing?

I didn't know how to take that comment either. I was hoping it was for a blues flavor--and it certainly had it--but he sure has been absent of late (ooo, I didn't mean to use that word!).

Well, this site won't go on like "The Flying Dutchman" with no one at the helm. Doc's ISP has already demonstrated that they'll pull the plug if their check doesn't arrive precisely on time.
