Need Lyrics: It's alright - Hound Dog Taylor

Postby chili » Wed Sep 28, 2005 10:39 am

Hi everybody,

My bamd wants to play that song, but it's impossible for me to figure out the lyrics, because I'm not a native speaker. There are always some holes left:-( I didn't find anything on the net, except one website (http://www.keno.org), but this version of "It's alright" seems to be wrong. I have tried to figure out the lyrics from the CD "Houd Dog Taylor A Tribute". There are two versions of the song on it, but that didn't help .

Thanks for your help
Greetings from Germany
Jürgen

Hiya chili. Here are the lyrics - as best as I can figure them out - from his first album, Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers:

IT'S ALRIGHT

Yes I love ya, I love ya
Woman I'm telling you that I do
I don't love nobody I'm telling ya
In the whole round world but you
Alright, alright, it's alright

Yes let me tell ya, let me tell ya
Honey, just before you go
If you don't love me, won't you tell me
Baby I swear I don't wanna go
Alright, alright, it's alright

Did you ever wake up any morning
And find out your little woman's gone
It can hurt you so bad boy she's leaving
You just hate to be alone
Alright, alright, it's alright

Yes, I'm leaving, I'm leaving
Boy this time I'm really gone
Ain't no use in me hanging around here baby
And you steady doing me wrong
Alright, alright, it's alright

It's great that your band wants to keep his spirit alive. Hound Dog was a wild player, full of passion, intensity and a take-no-prisoners approach to playing. I would suggest that you don't get hung up on the details - he wasn't that kinda guy. He played cheap guitars, was usually out of tune and didn't even have a bass player. In other words, he did it his way. And it truly rocked. In a world where everything is micro-managed, massaged and mediated, I say - go for the gut. That's the way HDT did it.
