I ran into Jeff Daniels just about a year ago this time when we were both doing some Christmas shopping at Elderly Music in Lansing, MI. ("The Mecca"...Jeff's words, not mine, but I tend to agree.)

He's a lot taller than I thought he was, about 6'3, and with the beaverfelt Fedora he wore, it made him appear about 6'7. We chatted briefly about a few of his films and I shook his hand. He's an absolute music nut...I believe there's a picture of his guitar collection on his website. He had just released the CD in support of his Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, mostly a collection of humorous songs. He seemed like a nice guy but I had to respect his privacy as he just wanted to get on with his shopping and not be recognized. (With the hat on and a pair of reading glasses, I almost didn't recognize him.) It was an extremely cool experience though, and made my day!
