Lay down my dear brothers, lay down and take your rest
Oh won't you lay your head upon your saviour's breast
I love you, oh but Jesus loves you the best
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight

He certainly enjoyed a good innings.

The late Mike Leadbitter, founder of Blues Unlimited magazine, was championing Price in the pages of the magazine. He also wanted to bring him to Europe and placed the following advertisment in R&B Scene, June 1965 (p.16). It reads thus:
==========================
NOW AVAILABLE
FOR BOOKINGS IN EUROPE!

BIG WALTER PRICE

Big Walter, the singer, pianist and organist from Houston, Texas, one of
America's biggest R&B attractions and record stars is available for bookings
as a sole artiste or with his great four piece band ‑ The Thunderbirds.

Interested parties should contact Mike Leadbitter

At 43 St. Leonards Rd., Bexhill‑on‑Sea, Sussex,

for further information.

It is accompanied by a cropped copy of the Peacock publicity photo.

To the best of my knowledge Mike's ambitions for Price was a non-starter but I'd happily stand corrected.
