I've got a suspicion that Big Bill Broonzy has something to do with this, but I can't quite put it together.

I'm wondering if there's a sheikh connection, but can't really follow this idea through...

They probably all played with The Mississippi Sheiks, and Rudolph Valentino starred in that old silent flick [i]The Sheik.[/]

That was kind of what I was driving at, but for my money, "Walter Jacobs" spells "Little Walter", and I can't quite make the connection.
Call me anything you like, I get the sheikh thing, but can't fully answer the question, although I have actually been drinking so who knows?

Oh, I can't answer it either, you did, and I was just kinda explaining it a little more.

Well, the question was a HashTaff presentation. I guess it'll be up to himself to provide some kind of adjudicative pronouncement concerning the foregoing exchanges.

Well, I haven't Googled it or anything, so I can't pin it down any better now.

Sorry guys, family committments took me away for a couple of nights.

Google :
Bo Carter born Armenter Chapmon
Memphis Slim born Peter Chapmon
Walter Jacobs aka Walter Vinson

and all were or at one time played with The Mississippii Sheiks which took their name from the film The Sheik starring Rudolph Valentino

I reckon the honours should pas to Rico as being the closest to what I was after.
Stumblin gets an honourable mention and Bosco the wooden spoon ;)

No, no, man, Stumblin came up with the "Sheik" thing. Like I said, I just amplified on his idea a bit.
