"Breakin' it up, Breakin' it down", featuring Muddy Waters, Johnny Winters, and James Cotton; a composite of tunes from 1977 tour that included Bob Margolin, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, and Pinetop Perkins as well. IMO, Muddy wins the day with "Caledonia" on this one, but Johnny's vocals got me goin' right away on the opening cut. Very good blues. A buddy of mine gave it to me last weekend.

Hazmat Modine. It's kind of hard to describe these guys, but imagine Tom Waits meets a blues/jazz/roots influenced harmonica band, with both chromatic and diatonic harp. Very interesting stuff.

I've been listening to country radio, getting myself used to the music. Mainly the singers; I've long been impressed with the instrumentalists in Nashville, but a lot of the singing is definitely an acquired taste.

Little Axe, Stone Cold Ohio. I'm on a huge Little Axe trip at the moment - it's sure not traditional blues but it is blues and, for my money, it's some of the most exciting blues being made today.
