A John Lee Hooker song is heard at the beginning of Bill Wymans Blues Odyssey documentary.

Could someone tell me what the name of the song is?

Here is a link to the clip.

He's probably recorded this more than once but think the version we are hearing is I'm Going Upstairs recorded for VeeJay January 4, 1961 and issued on The Folklore Of John Lee Hooker (LP 1033).

Nobody else recognizes this song either.

I love the groove of and would like to download it if I could figure out the name.

The lyrics to my ear go like this:

I'm goin' upstairs and bringin down all my clothes

I'm goin' upstairs and bringin' down all my clothes

Well I know Babe

You'll never know

The tune is called "I'm Going Upstairs"

I couldn't wait any longer I needed to boogie to the full version of this song.

You gotta love the rhythm guitar and that bass note he throws into the mix.

Is that bass note a hammer on?

Does anybody know?

Here is the full version
