This discussion board lists heaps of great names, too many to mention and not one worth not mentioning -- but I wonder who among today's artists will go down as the greats tomorrow to rival RJ, Muddy, Elmore etc. Like, who's the heir apparent to the reign of Stevie Ray Vaughan?

It's something old farts* yell, because they are curmudgeonly and hate youths for their youthful antics. If you're Clint Eastwood, you also have a gun when you say it.

*29 going on 60, in this case.

I think Corey Harris is great great.

I had a chance to hang out with this cat, Kirby Kelley, when I worked a guitar seminar a few years back.

He was the baddest thing I'd ever heard with a slide - a real one of a kind.

But the truth is, there are so many people singing the blues today. Everywhere in the world, the Blues is becoming part of the voice of broader humanity. With that many singers, and that many guitars, there are a lot of amazing voices out there you'll never hear - in a lifetime of listening to the Blues! The spirit of the Blues is moving, has been moving over the water.
The best music in the world is somewhere tonight.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention another personal favorite - Harmonica player Charlie Sayles is another guy who's had a few good nights in his life.
