4th pos. is great for blues on a harp.you are using a harp [G]MAJOR playing [Em] relative to the G maj.
your 1-4-5 the root E 6draw blues scale,E 6 draw,G 7 blow,A 8draw, 8blow-bend Bflat, B8 blow,D9 blow.....
4th-scale A 4 draw, C 5 draw,D 6 blow,Eflat 6 bend draw,E 6draw,G7 blow...
5th-scale B 5+8 blow[oct.]D 6 blow,E 6 draw,F 3 bend draw,F # 3 draw,A 4 draw...
all three blues scales are here ready to be played, and the 6draw bend Eb7 to E, is a killer riff to start any song off
with.also,8 blow bend B kicks.try it ,and have fun .......cl

I've just started working on my 4th position harp. It's a natural position for minor blues. I've worked up an exercise where I play the aeolian mode on the I chord, the dorian mode on the IV chord and the phrygian mode on the V chord.
Seeing as how harps keep getting more and more expensive we might as well get as many positions out of them as we can...

I've never tried 4th position... or at least not conciously...

3rd is quite nice for minor...

if i was a lot better at bending I'd try to learn all 12 positions... itd be really cool to do!

4th position is built around the Em chord namely

2 blow 2 draw 3 draw 5 blow and

5 blow 6 blow 7 draw 8 blow

This is also a good chord to be aware of for 2nd position playing. Its worth playing back a forth, from the 2 blow to the 8 blow. May seem hard at first, but will soon become easier.
