Nice find, bigcat! My 30 Classic is a little too crisp for my tastes, but I put a Holmes Harp Commander in front of it (plus a delay), and it browns up nice. What's your take on the tone of the 50......? First of all, have you had a chance to drive it hard yet....?

from what i understand the classics are very sensitive to different tubes. Evidently different tubes REALLY effect the classic series sound. I am getting ready to put a set of jj tubes from eurotubes in my classic 20 in an attempt to warm it up and mellow it out a little.

ok bosco or whoever, I found a peavey classic 50 4/10 1994 for $300.00

Sorry I'm late responding, been in the woods hunting for a week for my vacation. That's a great score BigCat, about the same configuration as my Fender Bassman RI. You may want to knock the top 30% off the preamp value to get a little speaker overdrive and push the output transformer a bit.

What's your initial impression? I've found that my dynamic Green Bullet is my most efficient mic and tends to sound best with my smaller amps. The Bassman w/ 45 watts and 4x10 is powerful and clean and benefits from the less efficient mic, the crystal JT-30 clone.
