If you're here, you move in strange circles.

Is that anything to do with crop circles?

Other than McCartney I can't think of left handed bassists. A certain percent of people are left handed but most are right handed. I wonder if that holds true for musicians. My son is left handed but he plays right handed when playing guitar or bass so I don't think that counts.

The Mighty Vimto is a lefty who plays string things left handed but in standard stringing.

Left handed basses are needlessly expensive. Playing bass on an upside down r/h strung bass is pretty easy to get a grip of.

Just my view of course... :)

My eldest son is a leftie, but apparently NO-ONE plays upright bass as a leftie. He played upright bass for four years before he got a bass guitar. When he got the bass guitar, he played it as a rightie, because he was used to plucking with his right hand.

The weirdest thing is watching him play acoustic guitar. All three acoustics in the house are righties. If it is just a strumming tune, he plays it as a leftie, upside down. But when it gets into more complex picking, he swaps back to a rightie configuration, 'cause he does his bass picking with his right hand. It looks really strange when he starts swapping mid song!

Keith Ferguson played a left-handed tele with the first (and best) version of the Fab T-birds. Fersuson is a must hear, for blues bass players, imo.

I am a lefty, and I play regular guitar among other instruments, all left handed.

I've been thinking of getting a left handed bass and an amp, just because every time I jam with people, we never have a bassist. That, and the few times I've played bass, I really liked it.

I know I have seen left handed bassists, but I cannot place where. McCartney for sure. Also, I think I remember seeing some players in Flogging Molly play left handed.
