OK, I need some education here.
I see reference to "Dog House" and "Pig Nose" in this forum.
I think this is to do with upright bass?
Can anyone explain to a poor Kiwi what these terms refer to please?
Much obliged, and thanks.

Yep godinguy, you are correct. The doghouse is an upright bass but a "PigNose" is a brand of amplifier that has a distinctive distorted sound.

Hi Oleman.
Thanks for taking the time to explain those terms to me.
Much appreciated.
The Kiwi Blues scene seems to be alive and well.
I don't get out and play yet as I'm only at the beginner/learner stage, but I'm only 60 so have lots of time left to learn blues and bass.
Here's a link to some Kiwi Blues if anyone is interested.

There are some sound tracks to listen to as well.

Pignose is a brand name but they are known for their little battery powered amp. I use a Pignose in the summer when I am street busking. It's small, light and play pretty well. I run a stratocaster thru it at about half volume on the amp and around 8 on the guitar. It's loud enough right around where I stand but not blaring to annoyance.
