I went to the Pinetop Perkins concert last night (He played with Bob Margolin, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and Nappy Brown amoung others.) I was truely amazed at how good he can still play at 94 years young! I didnt realize until last night how great of a player he is and how influencial he is. Lets hear it for Pinetop!

His set with Willie "Big Eyes" Smith at Fargo was great! I agree that he didn't play like he's 94 yrs. old. Both his hands were strong, and there was no hint of arthritis. He had the headlining set, so he stayed up past allota younger peoples' bedtimes. Willie did a great job on harp as well! Of course, they did alot of Muddy Waters tunes, and some Little Walter. Willie didn't try to duplicate Little Walter's playin'--he couldn't come close; but the parts he played made total sense, and it was a good example of two guys workin' very closely together. Seein' them really warmed up my heart.

Saw him at Chicago Blues Fest in 2001. Awesome. Inspired me to take up the keyboard. Just four and a half years later, I finally did.

Incidentally, was watching an Otis Rush performance from the same event on the extras of an unrelated blues DVD a while ago and saw myself in the photographers pit as the camera circled behind him. Bit unnerving actually...

Saw him play at "Bacchanal" in Philly back in the eighties - it was a great show, too.
