Ray Charles - Tell Me Baby

Postby bob » Wed Apr 06, 2005 3:43 pm

I'm listening to Ray Charles today. Specifically "Tell Me Baby" a live track on the "Forever Gold" album. It's a tune I really want to learn and I'd like to get the same sounds as Ray did. It sounds like he's playing a hybrid of Gospel, Blues with some Jazz substitutions. Anyone have some tips on getting that sound? Thanks in advance!

Hi Bob ~ Off the top of my head I don't recall Ray's song "Tell Me Baby." I'll look in my collection for it. Brother Ray mixed Gospel, Jazz and Blues to come up with the Genius combination. I play a lot of Brother Ray's material and learned almost all of it by ear off of the records. I don't play it note for note, I have my own style of play. I'll find "Tell Me Baby" and see what I come up with.
