song to bastardize into a Blues offering. There's plenty of opportunities to spice it up (in the verses, as well as the refrain). Musically or vocally, a song that is crying out for revising.

A true blast.

Problem is that everyone thinks that Jeff Buckley wrote the thing.

I've done a bluesified version of his Tower of Song on occasion and just the other night I had a flash of inspiration and will be doing an arrangement of First We Take Manhattan.

Yikes, I don't even know who Jeff Buckley is!!! I assume he's some "young gun" who came in and released his version of Mr Cohen's song. If so, did he turn into a Blues song (as I propose doing)?

To be honest, I'm not very knowledgeable on Mr Cohen's music. A friend of mine gave me an old vinyl recording, and this song was on it. Melancholy music, but with witty lyrics. I like it.
