Board suggestions

Postby guitarslim101 » Thu May 04, 2006 7:40 pm

[updated:LAST EDITED ON May-04-06 AT 03:43 PM (EST)]I just picked an Otari MX-50 1/2 2 track reel-to-reel up on eBay and now I need a mixing board. I'm looking for something with 4-8 tracks, preferably with analog VU meters but they are not a neccesity. I don't need anything with built-in effects, just some reasonable pre-amps. Any suggestions?

Hey Slim, that's a nice deck!

I too have been looking for a good mixer for my machines - Teac 3340S and a Studer A810. No money right now to jump on anything though :(

For something new, the Mackie ONYX series sound pretty good - LED readouts though. The old Studer mixers with VUs are nice too.

I'm looking for something basic that I could maybe add a couple of outboard tube preamps to. I'd like something with four outputs to feed my Teac though, which narrows the choices pretty quickly.

Hey, that brings back memories.
I had a Teac D3340s about 20 years ago.
It actually used to belong to Cheech and Chong. They left it here in Australia when on tour in the 70's. Ear ache my eye!
Great unit.
I pulled it apart looking for a secret stash, but not a sausage!

Wish I still had it. Analog seems to be back in fashion.

How about the old Tascam mixers? Anybody familiar with them?
