Dan, I wanna know more about the cube. Did you build it or buy it? If you're on the outside can you hear whats going on inside? What's it made of. I want one. :D

Ordered it from Whisper Room - http://www.whisperroom.com/.

It's made of extra dense, acoustical grade particle board, covered with grey carpet. It has a quiet, baffled extractor fan and double glass in the windows. 2 people can assemble it pretty easily, and it weighs about 600 pounds.

It cuts out a lot of sound, but not all. you can order them in a variety of sizes and configurations - I first became aware of them because a studio I've used in the east Bay is built around 4 of them, in different sizes.

I'll update this at some point, because this is a couple years old, when I had my apartment in the ghetto, before I had my Fender amp. Since the pic wasn't really taken for musical purposes, not everything is visible. I was playing guitar through a Boss GT-6 into a Peavey MkIII into a Dean Markley 15" cab (my bass practice amp/cab). Maybe I had my pignose at that point, the little one. Also not visible in the corner is my SM58+stand. My monitor actually sits on real furniture now :)

MR8HD, Sennheiser cans, big silver box is my pc which I control wirelessly (Marvel Ultimate Alliance on screen :)). My Alvarez acoustic, ESP bass and Gibson SG 61 reissue. And one of my favorite items, my autographed Buddy Guy strap. Wish I could get one without the autograph because it's a great strap, but Jodie doesn't make them stock as far as I can find.

Terrible picture quality. Used my moms camera because I couldn't find mine. It's just a wall in my bedroom. All of my guitars are hanging (except one) around my room.

After a few months of regular online broadcasts, the Whisper Room's layout is taking on
a
little more character
- not a great picture, but here you can see the mixer, and the location of the
computer screen outside the window, and a wireless keyboard inside the glass.

The room for improvements and upgrades is, of course, astounding.

Hi Dan: The songs sound real authentic. No coloring, just what the ears would hear. Walter

At this point , I have to do some fresh recordings -
the current generation of broadcasts will sound way better
than the last recordings I posted.

But clean, dry and real is what I'm looking for.

Here is a video with my recording space. my wife says it looks like a mens bathrroom or a jail cell. It is in our basement. The blankets on things are to give some isolation from the mics bleeding too much into each other. Walter

Great stuff - and instructive.

Great to see how you deal with the technical end of getting your sound out there.

Hi Daan: You are doing 1 mic for everything right? What mic are you using and what preamp do you run it through? Walter

The posted recordings, yes, that's one mic into the sound card.

Now, for broadcasts, I'm running a Shure SM 57 and a Shure sm 58 into an Alesis MultiMix 8 - a USB mixer with onboard pre's, which'll have to do for the time being.

I really am going to have to make some fresh recordings soon...

Ok, got you. the 57/58 are great all around mics but need to be close to work best, and you are close with your recording room. I wonder if you wondered how it would sound with a condensor mic(s) set back in the room. Walter

Sure has, also thinking about a PZM on the wall of the booth.

At the moment, forging on with the mics I have on hand.
