On line collaboration?

Hi Folks,
I'm sure all of us find it problematical to find suitable collaborators because of time, stylistic and travel distances.
Have some of you have tried a recording collaboration on line? It seems like it may suit my own travel/talent limitations, as I enjoy a rural lifestyle.
What's on line collaboration like and is it practical?
Thanks.
Bill

Here you go:

There are other approaches - a few artists on Second Life are doing live dual streams from remote locations now, for example - but this would be a place to start.

Another way of music collaboration over the net is that you take a backing track of a song and divided into verses. Then all of the collaborators selects one of the the verses and records a solo over the verse. Then everybody sends the contribution to the hosting guy that mix everything together to a song with verses of solos from everybody.
It´s very fun and rather simple to do.
I have been that for several years now..
