I can't seem to get along w/ thumb picks tho so my base lines tend to weaken some. Oh well.... it's all good!

Yessir, that is how I play. Long, drawn out, slow notes.

In my own approach to Slide, so much of the game is damping the unwanted sounds, and this is easier if I use fingers or fingerpicks.

Do you mainly play single note lead lines? I have noticed, for example, that Roy Rogers grabs a Flatpick for this sort of thing (he keeps one in a groove dug into the top of his Martin New Yorker - yeesh)
