Getting up in front of a crowd: used to have stage fright, but not any more. I work on the principle that I have a guitar and loud equipment; I am not the one with a problem

Having the nuggets to get up in front of a roomful of people and say "everybody, listen to this" is a HUGE part of going over.

People get a buzz out of hearing live instruments in public settings.

That is actually my rationale that I use to calm down before playing in public. My head is full of 'Oh crap, we're not good enough' and then I tell myself 'Well, fuck it, most of the people here wouldn't go on at all'

Note: this doesn't work in front of an audience full of people in better bands than mine.

My badly put point is that audiences generally want you to do well and its a good feeling.

So good going maxx.

Oh, what the hell, nice work Maxx. And my envy will probably just spur me onto to actually learn something this week for a change. The main thing is, people like it when someone bothers to do something. Once I realised that, I got a lot less nervous. But it is strange if people ever thank you for playing, isn't it?

I meant to say to you, I flipped one of my guitars to l/h strung to try out the whole alternating bass thumb thing. Any pointers to resources for an eedjit?

The Moneymakers went down well enough for people to come up and ask if we'd got any CDs or if we'd got a website, so I think we did pretty much OK.

Then the Alchemy thing, rock type stuff, not bad but not the same response as the first set.

Thing is, this is a surreal experience for me, total strangers coming up and thanking me for my having a good time; weird but very, very pleasant.
