Tread warily. My advice if you're looking for gigs is to do it yoruself for as ong as you can and than only use and agency once you REALLY need one. If you're not gigging regulalry and earning good money than in all honesty the major agencies simply won't be interested.

Lefty and the G-Man are both right. I haven't seen that particular one before, but I know there are some dodgy scammers out there.
This guy might be okay though, it can be hard to tell from just an email or whatever. Like Grady says, hold onto your dough until you're 100% sure they're on the level.

Hey this is Brian, I do new artist relations for BigTime Entertainment. I saw your page and i wanted to let you know that we specialize in helping local artists--in fact most of us at BigTime are artists ourselves. It's our passion to help local artists solve their problems by teaching them how to find the right strategies that will work best for them--articles on growing your mailing list faster, selling more cds, etc. (http://www.BigTime-Artist-Resources.com) and finding the shows they want to play (http://www.BigTimeEntertainment.org)

Sam (our Twin Cities booking director) has a couple openings on July 25th, and August 22nd i think youd be good for at Varsity Theatre, they're both all ages like we usually do. if that wouldnt work, he'll have other dates for july/aug/sept so get him an email and we can see which shows you'll fit best for.

Just email Sam at his booking address: TwinCities@bigtimeentertainment.net

Also, If you could do me a huge favor, it'd really help me out. Please when you email Sam at the above address type into the subject line "Booking Invite-Brian" so that I get credit for finding you. I hope that our artist resources help you for all the shows you play--and I hope we can get you onto a BigTime show soon.
-Brian

Thanks!

So do you guys think this is BS or is it worth pursuing? I'm going to ask around and see if anyone has worked with them. I'm a bit skeptical because the Varsity is a pretty large venue and the songs on my myspace are hardly...good. I might just shoot him an e-mail and see what I can find out. The dates he mentioned are billed as BigTime Entertainment shows on the Varsity website and have about 7 different acts on them.
