You can coat the ends of your fingers with Super Glue to help that situation.... Its come in handy for me a couple times and I always keep a little tube handy in my gig bag.

I will second the super glue nomination,if you can play that way. I had a problem with my fingers bleedin' all over the ivories on my piano a coupla years ago (I had contracted some sort of "jock itch" on my fingers),and resorted to super glue after some discussions about it on this forum. It worked very well for playin' piano, and it peeled right off afterwards, with a little scrapin'. I had to use it for a month or two.

You can get back the dynamic range with fingerpicks with practice. They're going to sound brighter (and louder), though.

I bet your right, and they certainly are loud.

But, I use my picking fingers for damping strings, and the technique I've adopted has taken years to perfect.
I also use my nails to strum downwards, incorporated with picking upwards, and the picks again get in the way for this.

As for tone, I prefer the tone I can get from a calloused finger.
I can vary it a lot, and I can snap the strings, or just tickle em.
Lots of other reasons too, I just don't like fingerpicks.

They remind me of Patsy Bisco, an australian folk singer from the 60's, who sang chidrens song's.

I like to hear people use them.
Old Bob the Brozman sounds pretty good doin' his Hawiian Hula stuff with 'em :P

Dont let me put you off, they're just not for me.
I'm thankfull for having them this last week, as they've helped me get through some painfull gigs.
