As you've probably guessed, it was my tricone Johnson. I carried it (and still do) in a very bulky foam filled soft case/gig bag. Bigger than a dreadnaught hardshell case. It has a normal carrying sling that goes over the shoulders, and a pair of backpack style straps. Those are the way to go for carrying on a bike. The straps I have have super cheap clips on the end of them that are bad about popping off, but never have come undone on both sides at the same time.

I used to ride all around town on my Harley with my Johnson slung over my back.
Was the neck pointed up, or down? How fast was you ridin'?

Has this post been hijacked? If so let me ask a silly question.
I was thinking of how to carry an acoustic guitar on a motorcycle, I thought maybe if the neck unbolted the ax could be bagged pretty easy.
Have any of you carried a guitar on your bike?
Bill

2 options here - have you considered a 3/4 size tuned, like Lummo's little travel guitar, to standard but using the G above E as the starting point?

Or a specifically cut down electric to carry, like an old Kay I saw years ago, effectively just a neck, bridge and pickup. There was a name or description for them, but it's lost in the fog of memory.
