And an insanely distorted "Star Spangled Banner." Oh, yeah, and some "La Grange." Guess it's time to go back and beat out some "Smoke On The Water" through it, before I get back to work on decreasing its gain and taming it down.

As I previously had it set up, I wasn't getting enough drive voltage to the output stage to reach full power (now it saturates at about 1/2 travel on the volume knob), and in trying to get there a stage of the preamp was completely blocking due to grid current. Made it sound like a bad cell phone connection, cutting out and fading back in. Now, I need to cut down the signal voltage reaching the output stage's driver (this is a Class AB2 amp), reduce the preamp gain and the time constant for blocked grids so I'll get a nice Marshally chainsaw sound from overdriving them, and drastically cut the gain on the reverb return. It's feeding back through the reverb and the reverb's way loud with the knob at about 9:00. I'm going to take out a gain stage before the tone stack, I think, and make it a cathode follower like Marshall and Fender use. That ought to tame it down to a more usable level.

Oops, just about time to go back to church for the evening Bible study. I'll work on it some more tonight.
