Regular semi-hollowbodies (335's, Casinos, etc) seem to range from not really affected much by the body to sounding very different. I think a lot of this has to do with how solid it is under the bridge. My advice would be find something that sounds good/different to you and not worry too much about what is inside.

I couldn't comment on the tone, we were using too much distortion, they don't feed back as easily though! I'm very tempted by them, I just need the money...
