The vibrato still isn't second-nature to me, and I'm slowly becoming less reliant on hammer-ons/offs. I've obviously got a long way to go, but I'm really getting the hang of it now.

One thing I've noticed since playing slide allot, is that my normal playing is going a bit down-hill, my fret-work is getting a little clumsy, and my rhythm is getting a bit dull. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing I've got to play a bit of both, the problem is that I just don't feel like playing anything but slide.

Heres how I make my slides out of bottles. http://stores.ebay.com/Bottleneck-Guita ... Slide.html .

By the way excellent slide work for a beginner. Real nice muting. As stated a little more vibrato will definitley add some color. Slide On!.

Don't be fooled by red glass bottles! A guy bought a bunch of red bottles into our workshop a few years back - and when we chopped 'em up to make 'necks they turned out to be clear, uncolored glass with a red film heat-shrunk onto the outside :wha:

Red decorative bottles (vintage perfume bottles etc) can be found in antique stores and marketplaces - if anyone finds one that'd work for a slide i'd love to know about it  .

Slide On!

Ian.

I haven't seen any in the grocery store. My wife has a decorative bottle that's red but it's the wrong size (and, uh, for decoration). My guess is it would sound the same as brown, but who knows.

That bottle was just a lucky find, it stood out as a potential slide pretty much as soon as i started sliding, it sounds beautiful. my mum saw another bottle just like it in the recycling truck 5 mins after i made the slide, but she didn't ask for it coz the recycling man is an angry bald guy with a tattoo on his head. I guess I'll always be on the lookout for interesting bottles from now on, i'd like to find a good red bottle, I haven't seen any references on the sound of red glass, so it'd be a good experiment.
