Slide, open tuning, or standard/ fretted? There are lots of Celtic and trad Irish tunes that use Mixolydian. Try Roving Galway Boy or Sheebag and Sheemore. For something more mainstream, work on Norwegian Wood (Beatles), sliding the melody (it's Mixolydian) while droning the root, say in Open D. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitgerald is another one that works this way.

If that doesn't float your boat, here are some (mostly) rock songs that use Mixolydian. Some of these are more chord based (vs scales) but maybe something strikes you.

Again, if Celtic / trad Irish is appealing, you will find lots there with some searching. To me this genre is the essence and mood of Mixolydian. Key of D / open D tuning in particular.

anyone have a tune for learning mixolydian scale? Something that uses most or all the notes, but not so abstract as just running the scales?

Thanks if possible,

RC
