Looks great Rich. Did you antique the brass yourself?

Nope, that's just how she looked with the green/black burst stripped away. In certain light the green looked quite like bronze, especially on the back, but mostly it just looked green. I'm much happier with her now. Btw, you can't see in either of these shots, but I replaced the tuners with three on a plate restoration tuners from Stew-Mac and am v happy with those too. :D Peace.

It soon started losing its grey paint though, so I stripped. I used simple paint stripper and it came off really easily. I did it a few years ago, and the nickel finish underneath has weathered really well, and it made a small difference to the volume of the guitar too IMO

Looks like this now

You are far too fast for me, Jake, old buddy.

And To BJ, I'll post some pics soon. I have a friend who is a very keen photographer and failing to procure one of Jake's strippers, he uses me. And I'm only too happy to stand around with one of my axes while he gets me to stand in the best way to make use of natural light. A couple of weekends ago we found a good spot under a railway bridge with lots of steel beams and rivets for atmosphere and good light from both sides. I had my triolian, then in it's green phase. He took 83 shots - the beauty of digital. So we can go out again with my triolian baring its all for the sake of art. :D Peace

I also did things to it like cut a hole in it with a dremel and install a rails pickup. I don't regret that either but I might not have been willing to do those things to one of my Nationals. It seemed less of a gamble with a cheaper instrument.
