The reason I'm asking is that the theme for Firefly was written by Joss Whedon and performed by Sonny Rhodes on lap steel, while the Serenity theme was written by Greg Edmonson and performed by a slide guitarist (some unknown to me studio musician).

See my web site for an explanation of the difference between slide guitar and lap steel, and many links to both kinds.

I would also recommend browing the Steel Guitar Forum (http://bb.steelguitarforum.com). You have to pay a nominal amount to be able to post, but you can read for free.

I think it is a shame that KJP rarely plays his slide stuff any more (altho he is a great fingerstyle player).

He's also got a two DVD set there on just playing guitar fingerpick style--I've never gotten around to trying any of these lessons myself--but I think they might be worth a look. . .

I've written here once before, (thanks for answering, ricochet, I'll check it out!).
Last time I asked about some really cool acoustic slide licks, slow-medium type of Western-Cowboy Slide licks they use in movies, a TV show I saw called "Firefly".
I asked if there was anywhere I could get tab for similar styles of playing-songs.

Now I've discovered this "Roll Away the Stone", by Kelly Joe Phelps. This may not be the Western-Cowboy slide stuff I really wanted tab for, but it's also fantastic acoustic slide. It was listed as one of the Best 10 Slide Albums, on Amazon. I listenened to samples, amazing stuff.
Does ANYONE KNOW WHERE. I can find, free or not, tab, a BOOK, SOME WAY TO LEARN STUFF YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED?
Ive been playing for years, just the last few with slide, and I can often figure chords, melodies- but with slide, blues, the Western-Cowboy stuff, some of it is new to me, so I really need the TAB, for stuff like "Kelly Joe Phelps", or "Western-Cowboy Slide Licks"!! ...Is there any available? I can trade all the Old Elmore James, Robert Johnson, Son House, etc., that anyone wants!

Also, I know where you can get MANY CLAASIC SLIDE SONG TABS, FOR FREE.
Elmore, Robert, Son, Also, Ry Cooder, Johnny Winter, others. etc.
